Anesthesia

At Surgery Center of Fairfield County, LLC the entire Department of Anesthesiology is comprised of Board-Certified Physician Anesthesiologists.  We have extensive experience in Anesthesia for both children and adults. 

 
Dr. Sandra Congdon graduated from and completed her Anesthesiology training at Columbia University.  Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude.  Dr. Congdon is Board-Certified in Internal Medicine as well as Anesthesiology.  She serves as Medical Director of Surgery Center of Fairfield County.

Dr. Barry D. Stein is a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Dartmouth Medical School.  He completed his Anesthesia training at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City while earning his MBA in Healthcare Administration.  He is Board-Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Lisa Caramico joins us from Yale where she served as the Associate Section Chief of Pediatric Anesthesia.  She is a graduate of Vassar College and Mount Sinai School of Medicine.  She completed her Anesthesia training at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.  She is Board-Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Phillis Beberman-Jennes completed her undergraduate education at Clark University and received her medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.  She finished her anesthesiology residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City and continued onto a fellowship in Pain Management at Einstein-Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, New York.  She has spent many years as assistant Clinical professor in the Ambulatory Surgery division at Yale-New Haven Hospital and more recently worked as a staff anesthesiologist at Griffin Hospital.  She is Board-Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Christine S. Rinder was born and raised in Vermont.  She received her BA from Yale where she was a varsity athlete and then earned her MD from Univesity of Vermont.  Dr. Rinder was on staff at Maine Medical Center in Portland when she was recruited back to Yale where she remained on the faculty.  She was a clinician, teacher and researcher during her tenure.

Dr. Lawrence Schwartz graduated from the University of Rochester and Columbia University Medical School.  He completed anesthesia training at the University of California San Francisco.  After working in California, he moved to New York City and has spent more than twenty years working at Beth Israel Medical Center.  Dr. Schwartz is the past Director of Beth Israel's Philips Ambulatory Care Center.  He is Board certified in Anesthesiology.
